Simple wholemeal spelt bread rolls recipe for tasty, healthy bread rolls that are quick and easy to bake in your own oven without too much effort. Fresh-smelling bread rolls with wholemeal flour and spelt flour for a delicious highlight on the breakfast table or in between meals.
Dissolve the yeast in the water, preferably directly in a mixing bowl.
250 ml water, still
7 g instant yeast
Add the remaining ingredients and knead with the dough hook for approx. 7 minutes. Start 7 minutes timer here
250 g whole grain spelt flour
250 g white spelt flour
5 g fine salt
35 g olive oil
Now let the dough rest in the mixing bowl in a warm and draft-free place for one hour (cover with a fresh kitchen towel).Start 60 minutes timer here
Now knead the dough again by hand and divide into 10 equal pieces. Shape these pieces into rolls and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Now brush the rolls with water and sprinkle with seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, linseed) if desired. Then leave the rolls to rest again at room temperature for approx. 20 minutes. Start 20 minutes timer here
Preheat the oven to240 °C. Before baking, cut the rolls lengthways with a sharp knife and bake in the centre of the oven for approx. 15-20 minutes..Start 15 minutes timer here
You can also spray the buns with water while baking to make them rise even more.
